Since its inception in 1961, Roorkee Local Centre of The Institution of Engineers (India) has completed 51 years and entered into 52 years of its existence. This Centre has a distinct legacy as its office bearers have made extra ordinary contribution in infrastructure development and growth of higher technical education in India. The Centre celebrated Golden Jubilee year from October 2010 to October 2011. During this period, besides its regular activities, the Centre  organized additional programmes and technical courses with special reference to present challenges and opportunities in the engineering profession and society at large.
