Dr. B. R. Gurjar is an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering Department of IIT Roorkee. Dr. Gurjar has more than 20 years professional experience that includes his career in industry, teaching, training and research. He obtained B.E. in Civil Engineering from University of Jodhpur in 1987. After a short stint in construction industry he completed M.E. in Environmental Engineering from same university with First Rank followed by PhD from IIT Delhi. He worked as a Research Scientist in Max Planck Institute in Germany for three years before joining IIT Roorkee as Assistant Professor in early 2005. He has published more than 110 scientific and technical publications including books on Air Pollution and Sludge Treatment & Disposal. He has received several awards and fellowships including Village Talent Scholarship (1979-1981), National Merit Scholarship (1982-1987), START Young Scientist Award in 2004, the Nawab Zain Yar Jung Bahadur Memorial Medal in 2006 and the National Design Award for Environmental Engineering in 2011. He has been ranked as Highly Cited Author of Elsevier’s journal Atmospheric Environment during 2007-2010, and currently he is an Associate Editor of American Society of Civil Engineers’ Journal of Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste. Since last two years he has been serving the Roorkee Local Centre of IEI as Hony. Secy. and now for next two years he will be serving it as Chairman.
